Garment Interlining Types
Woven Interlinings – Made from lightweight fabrics, these are typically used for the most demanding areas such as waistbands, outerwear plackets, jackets, etc.
Knitted Interlinings – Fusible knitted interlinings are primarily used in knit garments, including areas with stretchable fused fabrics. These provide a solid foundation for efficient production. Circular and jersey knit fusible interlinings have stretch and recovery properties.
Non-woven Interlinings – High-quality non-woven interlinings are made from 100% polyamide products, with an ultra-fine coating applied to heavier blends. These interlinings are thermally or chemically bonded and are selected based on the application. They are generally available in very light weights, ranging from 100 g to 100 grams.
Water Repellent Interlinings – These are thermally bonded non-wovens, specifically designed for rainwear fabrics. Thermally bonded non-woven and circular knits can withstand the rigors of commercial washing processes, such as garment wash, enzyme wash, stone wash, and bleach wash.
Embroidery Backings – Made from nonwoven, non-fusible interlining materials, embroidery backings are easily tearable. For washed garments, nonwoven interlinings are now available that are easily soluble in hot or even normal water.
Hair Interlinings – These are woven canvases made from horsehair, mostly used in men's formal jackets, blazers, etc.
